Overview
The
4395A
has
three
analyzer
modes;
network,
spectrum,
and
impedance
(available
with
option
010).
In
network
analyzer
mode
,
the
4395A
measures
the
reection
and
transmission
characteristics
of
devices
and
networks
by
applying
a
known
swept
signal
and
measuring
the
response
of
the
test
device
.
The
signal
transmitted
through
the
device
or
reected
from
its
input
is
compared
with
the
incident
signal
generated
by
a
swept
RF
source
.
The
signals
are
applied
to
a
receiver
for
measurement,
signal
processing,
and
display
.
The
network
analyzer
system
consists
of
a
source
,
signal
separation
devices
,
a
receiver
,
and
a
display
.
In
spectrum
analyzer
mode
,
the
4395A
measures
the
amplitude
and
frequency
of
a
signal
spectral
line
by
sweeping
the
tuning
frequency
of
the
receiver
.
The
test
signal
is
applied
to
a
receiver
through
an
input
attenuator
.
The
spectrum
analyzer
consists
of
an
input
attenuator
,
a
receiver
,
and
a
display
.
Impedance
analyzer
mode
is
available
with
option
010,
and
requires
the
43961A
RF
impedance
test
kit
as
well.
In
impedance
analyzer
mode
,
the
4395A
applies
test
signals
to
the
DUT
through
the
impedance
test
kit,
and
determines
the
impedance
characteristics
of
the
DUT
by
a
method
called
the
I-V
analysis
method,
that
is
,
by
measuring
the
voltage
(V)
and
current
across
the
DUT
.
The
4395A 's
impedance
analyzer
system
consists
of
a
signal
source
,
a
test
kit
(the
43961A
RF
impedance
test
kit),
a
receiver
,
and
a
data
display
device
.
