Previewing skins
You can preview the changes you’ve made to your project skin from the skin dialog box.
Whenever you set the button colors, add or remove menus, configure the positions of playbars,
the preview will reflect the changes immediately.
The skin preview will show the first slide of the project. It will show the background image (if
present) or the slide color. No objects on the first slide are visible in the skin preview.
Tip: The performance of the skin preview will be slow if it has a large background image. To
overcome this performance issue when configuring the skins dialog, you can insert a blank slide and
set it as the first slide. Then open the skin dialog box and configure the skin changes. After this is
done, you can hide the first slide. The next slide that has the background image will appear in the skin
preview dialog for final viewing.
Securing slides
You can lock or hide individual slides in an Adobe Captivate project. This is useful if others are
reviewing a first draft of a project.
Locking slides
Adobe Captivate gives you the option to lock individual slides. When you lock a slide, all objects
on the slide can be viewed but not edited. This feature is useful if you want to send your project
to others for review but do not want them to make changes to objects.
You can tell that a slide is locked by looking for the small lock icon. This icon displays below a
locked slide in Storyboard view and in the Filmstrip.
To lock a slide:
1.
Open an Adobe Captivate project.
2.
Right-click the slide you want to lock and select Lock Slide.
Tip: To select multiple slides, press Shift or Ctrl on the keyboard while clicking on the desired slides.
To select all slides press Ctrl+A or from the Edit menu, choose Select All Slides.
Hiding slides
Adobe Captivate allows you to hide an individual slide in a project; the slide stays in the project
but is hidden from view when the project is played. This option is useful in several situations,
such as if others are reviewing the project, but information on certain slides is changing so you
want to hide the slides until they are correct.
You can hide a slide through slide properties or Slide Tasks. Also, when publishing handouts, you
can choose whether to include hidden slides.
To hide a slide through slide properties:
1.
Open an Adobe Captivate project.
2.
Right-click a slide and select Hide Slide.
The slide is dimmed in Storyboard view.
