CHAPTER 10

Slides

Adobe Captivate projects are composed of slides. An individual slide represents one “shot” in a
project. As each slide is displayed, the project plays smoothly and any action (such as mouse
movement) flows seamlessly between slides. You can combine any number of slides to create a
project.

Much of the work you do in Adobe Captivate is done at the slide level. In fact, after you establish
certain project preferences and options and record the onscreen action, you will probably work
nearly exclusively at the slide level until you are ready to preview and publish your project.

Adobe Captivate has several different types of slides. You can include some or all of these slide
types in a single project:

•

Image slides contain an image in JPG, JPEG, GIF, PNG, BMP, ICO, EMF, or WMF format.

•

Blank slides are entirely empty. They are useful when you want to add elements such as
graphics, credits, or logos.

•

Question slides contain quizzing functionality. They can be fully interactive, with questions,
answers, and actions.

•

PowerPoint slides are individual slides imported from a PowerPoint presentation.

•

Animation slides contain an animation in SWF, GIF, or AVI format.

Adding slides to a project

Adobe Captivate offers a wide variety of options for adding slides to a project, including
recording, importing, and copying. You can add different types of slides such as blank, image,
quiz, or animation.

Tip:

Press Ctrl+Shift+G and specify a slide number in the Go to Slide dialog box to jump directly to the

specified slide.

Recording additional slides for a project

There may be cases in which you record an Adobe Captivate project and begin working at the
slide level, only to realize that you need to record a few more slides. In this case, you probably
don't want to re-record the entire project just a few actions. Adobe Captivate allows you to do this
by recording new slides and inserting the slides in an existing project.
