Chapter 5: Adding Audio and Video

From the Video type pop-up menu, select the type of video you want to add.
■
If you select Progressive Download Video, browse to the relative or absolute path of the
FLV file in the URL text box.
■
If you select Streaming Video, enter the server name, application name, and instance name
in the Server URI text box. (For example, rtmp://myserver/myapp/myinstance.) Enter the
stream name in the Stream name text box.
■
If you select Flash Video Streaming Service, enter the direct file link provided by your Flash
Video Streaming Service in the File Link text box.

From the Skin menu, select the skin you want to use in your video. (Skin refers to the way the
video playbar appears within your completed project. To preview the choices, select each skin
from the menu.) If you do not want to include playback control for the video, select None.

In the Width box, specify the width of the video window.

In the Height box, specify the height of the video window.

To preserve the aspect ratio of the original Flash Video, click the Constrain option (Constrain
changes both size values simultaneously).

If you selected Streaming Video, click Live video feed to insert a live feed.
9.
If you want the video to start playing automatically, click the Auto play option.
10.
If you want the video to rewind after it finishes playing, click the Auto rewind option.

If you selected Streaming Video or Flash Video Streaming Service, you must enter a number in
the Buffer time text box. (Buffer time is the amount of video that must be loaded before the
video plays in the Adobe Captivate project. The actual time it takes to stream video varies
depending on the user’s network bandwidth. Buffer time must not exceed the total project
time.)

You can choose the timing, transition, audio, and position settings (described in the following
procedures) now or after you have inserted the video.

To apply the settings or setting changes to all FLV files in your project, select Apply to all.
14.
When you finish making your selections, click OK.
Setting video options
You can specify timing and transition options for your video when you insert the video file, or
you can specify them at any other time.
To set video options:
1.
If you have already inserted the video, on the slide right-click the video frame and select
Properties from the pop-up menu.
2.
In the Flash Video dialog box, click the Options tab.
3.
In the Display for area, specify the number of seconds you want to display the video.
4.
In the Appear after area, specify the number of seconds after which you want the video to
appear.
