Updating ELAN Parameters
These ELAN parameters can be displayed and updated by management.
Parallel commands exist for this purpose in both the LECS command set
(see “Update ELAN Parameters in LECS Database” on page 293 in the
Management Guide) and in the LES command set (see “Update ELAN
Parameters in LES Database” on page 326 in the Management Guide).
When the LES of an ELAN and the LECS are in the same CoreBuilder
chassis you can use either command to update the ELAN parameters and
they will be updated in both the ELAN and the LECS.
When the LES of an ELAN and the LECS are in separate CoreBuilder units
proceed as follows:
1 Use the
Update ELAN Parameters via LECS
command in the CoreBuilder
unit which contains the LECS to update the ELAN parameters in the LECS
database (see “Update ELAN Parameters in LECS Database” on page 293
in the Management Guide).
2 Use the Update ELAN Parameters via LES command in the CoreBuilder
unit which contains the LES to update the ELAN parameters of the LES
(see “Update ELAN Parameters in LES Database” on page 326 in the
Management Guide).
The CoreBuilder 7000 switch supports the definition of up to 380 ELANs
in one LECS; 16 LANE Services can be implemented in one switch.
Connecting a LEC to
an ELAN
As mentioned above (see “LAN Emulation Configuration Server (LECS)”
on page 140) the LECS in the CoreBuilder enables a LEC wishing to join
an ELAN to obtain a LES address. The LEC connects to the LECS within
one of the CoreBuilder 7000 ATM switches in the ATM cloud through the
