Signaling of
Individual QoS
Parameters
The CoreBuilder 7000 switch lets you indicate individual quality of service
parameter values for a specific call. This information take precedence over
the standard QoS parameters and is passed over the network. If individual
quality of service parameters cannot be transported over the output port
(for example, if it is running UNI 3.0) the information is removed from the
message.
If you want to request or indicate individual quality of service parameter
values for a call, you can include acceptable and/or cumulative values of
allowed individual QoS parameters in the Extended QoS parameters
information element and/or the end-to-end transit delay information
element. If an acceptable value of a parameter is included, and the
end-to-end value of that parameter is determined by accumulation, then
you must include the corresponding cumulative value of the parameter.
The cumulative forward and backward values of individual QoS
parameters indicated by the user in the SETUP message (if present)
include the cumulative values from the original user to the network
boundary, and from the network boundary to the user, respectively. These
values are updated sequentially along the route of the call to determine
the values to be expected for this call.
Three information elements are involved in the signaling of individual QoS
parameters:
1
End to End transit delay.
Maximum and cumulative end to end transit delay.
2
Extended QoS parameters include:
Acceptable Peak to Peak Cell Delay Variation (for both directions)—
indicates the calling user’s highest acceptable (least desired) peak to
peak CDV values.
Cumulative Peak to Peak Cell Delay Variation (for both directions).
Acceptable Cell Loss Ratio (for both directions)—indicates the calling
user’s highest acceptable (least desired) CLR values.
3
QoS class. (for both directions)
One or both of EQoS and QoS must to be present. EQoS parameters take
precedence over the QoS parameter.
