Connecting a Telephone/Fax to your Prestige
If you wish, you can connect a regular telephone, fax machine, or a
modem to your Prestige to be used for analog calls just like a
normal phone line. It should be noted that this is optional and is not
required for you to run other applications using your Prestige. Plug
one end of the telephone cord from a phone or fax or modem into
the socket on the rear panel of the Prestige labeled ‘PHONE 1’ or
‘PHONE 2’.
In order to receive incoming calls using a device connected to
PHONE ports, you need to enter ‘Phone1’ or ‘Phone2’ in the
Analog Call field under the desired telephone number (e.g., 1st
phone #) in SMT Menu 2 - ISDN Setup. See Collecting ISDN
Phone Line Information in Chapter 2 for more details.
Connecting an Ethernet Cable to your Prestige
The Prestige supports two types of Ethernet connections. The
connection procedure differs for each one; please follow the one
that is appropriate for your installation.
•
UTP
The UTP port is used to connect to a 10Base-T network.
10Base-T networks use Unshielded Twisted Pair (UTP) cable
and RJ-45 connectors that look like a bigger telephone plug
with 8 pins. Two types of gray Ethernet cables come with the
package:
•
Straight through cable (white tag): Connect your Prestige to
