The encryption mechanisms used for

difference between the two is that

uses a simple common password, instead
of user-specific credentials.
Type a pre-shared key from 8 to 63 ASCII characters (including spaces and symbols).
This field is case-sensitive.

WPA (Wi-Fi Protected Access) is a subset of the IEEE 802.11i security specification draft. Key differences
between WPA and WEP are user authentication and improved data encryption.
