3.2.3 Security Settings
Fill in the fields in the third wizard configuration screen. The screen varies depending on what you select in
the
Encryption Method
field. Select
Disable
to have no wireless security configured, select
WEP
, or select
WPA-PSK
if your wireless clients support WPA-PSK. Go to
SETTINGS
,
WIRELESS
and
Security
if you
want WPA or 802.1x. See the
Wireless Screens
chapter for background information.
Disable
Select
Disable
to have no wireless LAN security configured. If you do not enable any wireless security on
your G-560, your network is accessible to any wireless networking device that is within range.
With no wireless security a neighbor can access and see traffic in your network.

WEP

WEP (Wired Equivalent Privacy) encrypts data frames before transmitting over the wireless network.
Select
64-bit
,
128-bit
or
256-bit
from the
WEP Encryption
drop-down list box and then follow the
on-screen instructions to set up the WEP keys.

Choose an encryption level from the drop-down list. The higher the WEP Encryption, the higher the
security but the slower the throughput.

You can generate or manually enter a WEP key by either

Entering a
Passphrase
(up to 32 printable characters) and clicking
Generate
. The G-560
automatically generates a WEP key.
