Connecting a Telephone Set to the Modem's PHONE Jack

A normal telephone set can be connected to the 2864 modem's PHONE jack and 
be used for recording and playback. A telephone set needs DC voltage and a current 
supply to work. This DC voltage is normally supplied through the phone line from 
the telephone company or a PABX.

The ZyXEL 2864 series modems are designed to provide DC voltage and current to 
the telephone set connected to the PHONE jack. Thus, a normal telephone set can 
be used to record or playback voice messages.
