Warning!
Always position the aspirator to enable the quick and effective disconnection of the
aspirator’s external power connection. Failure to do so could create a trip or
entanglement hazard.
Attach the Collection Canister and Tubing
Attach the collection canister and tubing as follows:
1. Secure the lid on the collection canister by pressing the lid firmly around the entire
perimeter until it is completely sealed.
2.
Secure the pour spout cap firmly on the pour spout on the lid.
3.
Place the collection canister basket into bracket on side of device.
4.
Place collection canister inside the basket and secure it with the Velcro strap as shown.
5.
Firmly attach the connection hose (PVC, 0.375 inch internal diameter) between the
aspirator’s vacuum port and the vacuum port on the collection canister.
6.
Attach patient tubing to patient port.
Note:
If the sterile packaging for the patient tubing is damaged, discard that tubing and use
the tubing from an intact package.
An overflow protection float prevents aspiration of more fluid than the capacity of the
collection canister. In the event of overflow, the float blocks the suction path preventing fluid
from reaching the aspiratory. When this occurs, enable Standby on the device to reduce the
applied vacuum. Replace the collection canister. Make all connections to the device before
resuming operation.
When overflow protection is triggered, turn the aspirator OFF (or place into Standby),
disconnect the collection canister, and dispose of the filled canister following local hazardous
material procedures.
Warning!
Always use a collection canister that provides both overflow protection and a filter.
Failure to do so can result in aspirator contamination and require extended service to
clean the internal components of the device.
If liquid or other material is drawn into the aspirator, remove the aspirator from use
immediately
. Place the contaminated aspirator into a biohazardous waste bag, and send
it for service. Contact ZOLL Medical Corporation for additional instructions.
