Upgrade Firmware via Configuration Files
The IP phone can download the firmware from the configuration server by stripping out
the access URL of the firmware specified in the configuration files. To upgrade the
firmware from the configuration server, the configuration server should be ready and
able to accept connections. The IP phone can download the firmware stored on the
configuration server in one of two ways:
The IP phone checks for both configuration files and firmware stored on the
configuration server during the bootup process.
The IP phone automatically updates configuration files and looks for firmware at a
fixed interval or at specific time.
You can configure the way for the IP phone to update configuration files and look for
firmware.
Procedure
Configuration can be performed using the configuration files or locally.
Configuration File

Local
Web User Interface
Configure the way for the
phone to check for
configuration files (the access
URL of the firmware should be
configured in the configuration
files in advance).
Navigate to:
http://<phoneIPAddress>/cgi-bi
n/ConfigManApp.com?Id=16
To configure the way for the phone to check for new configuration files via web user
interface:
1.
Click on Upgrade->Advanced.
2.
Select the desired value from the pull-down list of Check New Config.
3.
Click Confirm to save the change.
When the ―Check New Config‖ is set to Power on, restarting the IP phone forces it to
check for both firmware and configuration files stored on the configuration server.
