Since TIG welding puts out strong ultraviolet rays, protect eyes, neck, or hands with
shaded glasses, helmet, or gloves.
•
When the torch parts are inspected or replaced, be sure to turn OFF the power supply
switch.
Pressing the torch switch by mistake may cause an electric shock.
•
Pay attention to the following when welding a thin plate.
•
Frequent welding start/stop
When welding starts or stops frequently such as when tack welding at low current
and the end of the tungsten is whitened, the start performance is extremely
deteriorated (especially when at small current).
In this case, grind the end part as soon as possible. It is recommended to grind the
whole whitened part for better start performance.
•
Electrode diameter and material
Good start performance can be obtained with tungsten electrode diameter
φ
1.0 mm
and
φ
1.6 mm when welding current is approx. 5 A and 20 A, respectively.
Pure tungsten may deteriorate the start performance.
•
Torch inclination
Inclining or angling the torch excessively may cause the arc to be blown by gas air
current, resulting in deterioration of the start performance. Keep the torch rather
upright with a large size nozzle.
•
Noise may be generated from the radio when welding.
When listening to the radio, keep the radio as far as possible from the welder. When a
radio is not on battery but on a 100 VAC power supply, do not bring the welding torch
close to the 100 VAC cable.
Better to grind the whole
whitened part.
Better to sharpen the end
to 60° or more. Do not
sharpen excessively.
