Establish a periodic maintenance plan
according to the engine application and
make sure you perform the required
periodic maintenance at intervals
indicated. Failure to follow these
guidelines will impair the engine’s safety
and performance characteristics,
shorten the engine’s life and may affect
the warranty coverage on your engine.
See
Yanmar Limited Warranty on page v
.
Consult your authorized Yanmar
industrial engine dealer or distributor for
assistance when checking items marked

CAUTION

If no water drips when the fuel
filter / water separator drain cock is
opened, loosen the air vent screw on the
top of the fuel filter / water separator by
using a screwdriver to turn it
counterclockwise 2-3 turns.
This may occur if the fuel filter / water
separator is positioned higher than the
fuel level in the fuel tank. After draining
the fuel filter / water separator, be sure
to tighten the air vent screw.
CAUTION

• When the engine is operated in dusty
conditions, clean the air cleaner
element more frequently.
• NEVER operate the engine with the air
cleaner or element(s) removed. This
may cause foreign material to enter the
engine and damage it.
CAUTION
0000046en
The maximum air intake restriction shall
be 0.90 psi (6.23 kPa; 635 mm Aq) or
less. Clean or replace the air cleaner
element if the air intake restriction
exceeds the above mentioned value.
CAUTION

Make it a habit to perform daily checks.
See Daily Checks on page 44.
Periodic maintenance prevents
unexpected downtime, reduces the
number of accidents due to poor
machine performance and helps extend
the life of the engine.
