3. Drain the coolant from the engine block.
• On models not equipped with an oil cooler,
remove the coolant drain plug
(Figure 19, (1))
from the engine block.

• On models equipped with an oil cooler,
remove the coolant hose
(Figure 20, (1))
at
the oil cooler.
Figure 20
4. After draining the engine coolant, flush the
radiator and engine block to remove any rust,
scale and contaminants. Then reinstall and
tighten the drain plug or close the drain cock
in the radiator. Reinstall and tighten the
engine block drain plug or reconnect the
coolant hose at the oil cooler.
5. Fill radiator and engine with engine coolant.

Adjust Intake / Exhaust Valve
Clearance
Proper adjustment is necessary to maintain the
correct timing for opening and closing the valves.
Improper adjustment will cause the engine to run
noisily, resulting in poor engine performance and
engine damage. Consult your authorized Yanmar
industrial engine dealer or distributor to adjust the
intake / exhaust valve clearance.
