1. While the engine is running, check the
gauges for normal indications. The gauges
shown in
Figure 4
and
Figure 5
are provided
for illustrative purposes only.

Make sure the engine speed
is within normal limits.

Engine Oil Pressure

pressure is within normal limits.

Engine Coolant Temperature

Make sure
the engine coolant temperature is within
normal limits.

Hour Meter
- The hour meter display
(Figure 4, (4))
or
(Figure 5, (4))
shows the
total number of hours the engine has run.
This is useful for planning periodic
maintenance operations.

• If any of the gauges show an out of normal
limits condition, shut down the engine and
have the necessary repairs performed.
2. After the engine has reached operating
temperature, all of the indicators
(Figure 4, (5))
or
(Figure 5, (5))
should be
Off. If any of the indicators are On, shut down
the engine and have the necessary repairs
performed.
