2. Remove the cylinder head and the cam chain
drive assembly from the front cylinder (Chapter
Four).
3. Remove the clutch as described in this chapter.
4. Bend the ears of the lockwasher (A,
Figure 50
)
away from the primary gear nut.
5. Hold the flywheel with the sheave holder and re-
move the primary drive nut (B,
Figure 50
).
6. Remove and discard the lockwasher (
Figure
51
).
7. Remove the slotted washer (
Figure 52
) from the
crankshaft.
NOTE
The primary drive gear (A,
Figure
53
) and the timing gear (B) come out
as an assembly. However, if the timing
gear slips from the primary drive gear
during removal, the six springs and
six pins may be scattered. Stuff rags
into the opening in the crankcase so
nothing falls into the case.
8. Grasp the primary drive gear (A,
Figure 53
) and
slide the primary drive gear/timing gear (B) assem-
bly from the crankshaft.
