APU Software Platform

Introduction

This chapter describes the application processing unit (APU) Linux software platform, which

is further subdivided into a middleware layer, an operating system (OS) layer, and an

application stack (see

Figure 3-1

). The two layers are examined in conjunction because they

interact closely for most Linux subsystems. These layers are further grouped by vertical

domains which reflect the organization of this chapter:

• Video
• Audio
• Display
• Graphics
• Accelerator
• PCIe
