Buffer Functions (Polling)
4. When the FTP client displays the "ftp>" prompt, the user keys in the
dir
command and presses
[Enter]
to display the names of the files
available for retrieval. The
dir
command also displays the number of
records in each file, and the Locked/Free status of each file. Files that
are listed as "Locked" are currently partitioned by another user.
5. In this example, the user wishes to retrieve the file that contains
standard, non-alarm (ST) records that were received via the Auxiliary
Port (X.) Therefore, the name of the file that must be retrieved is
"
testXST
". For more information on file naming conventions for
the FTP server function, please refer to Section 16.5.3. The user then
checks the dir listing, locates the desired file, and checks to make
certain that it is free.
6. At the "ftp>" prompt, the user keys in the "
get testXST
" command
to retrieve the desired file. Several response messages are displayed to
indicate that the PORT command was successful, the data connection
was opened, and that the transfer is complete. The FTP speed
statistics are then listed. At this point, the file "
testXST
" has been
downloaded to the resident directory on the user's PC.
7. The FTP client displays the "ftp>" prompt again, and the user types
"
bye
" and presses
[Enter]
to terminate the FTP session. This
command is followed by a response message which indicates that the
connection was successfully terminated.
