Booting Up

PROBLEM: System reports an error message that is not related 
to any setup problems.

ACTIONS: 

•

Your system may have a virus which has infected the master boot
record. Boot from a clean (uninfected and write-protected) floppy disk
or from a bootable CD and run a virus checking software to find and
remove the virus.

•

Write down the message and call Technical Support at the number 
listed on the “Read Me First” card that was included with your system.

PROBLEM: System prompts for a password on boot.

ACTIONS: 

•

Boot password has been enabled. Type in your password to continue. 
If you have lost the password or the password has been enabled by 
accident, call Technical Support.

PROBLEM: System will not accept my password.

ACTIONS: 

•

Check the System Status LEDs to be sure that the Num Lock and/or 
Caps Lock are not activated.

•

If you have forgotten your password, there is no easy way to recover the
password. You will need to return the computer to WinBook for service.
