6 Commissioning and startup
6.1 Conditions
Commissioning and startup must only be carried out by trained and qualified person-
nel.
u
Prior to commissioning, all installation works must be completed and checked.
The burner must be installed on the heat exchanger and ready to function with all
control and safety devices connected. Check the following:
• Burner is installed, gap between flame tube and heat exchanger’s refractory
must be filled with flexible insulation material (refer to Chapter 4.3)
• Fuel supply is ready and complete.
• Electrical connection and control lines are ready and complete.
Depending on the site requirements, further checks may be necessary. Pay attention to
the instructions for individual components / items of equipment.
Safety notes on initial commissioning
The initial commissioning must only be carried out by the supplier, manufacturer or their
appointed agent. At this time, all the control and safety equipment must be checked to
ensure correct operation and, if it can be adjusted, it should be checked that it has been
set correctly.
Furthermore the correct fusing of the circuits and the measures for contact protection of
electrical equipment and of all wiring must be checked.
