8 Maintenance and service
8.1 Notes on maintenance and service
Risk of explosion due to leaking gas
When dismantling and assembling components which are used in the gas line, ensure
that they are correctly cross bonded, aligned, clean and in good condition, and that the
fixing screws are correctly tightened.
Risk of electric shock
u
Prior to service or maintenance, switch off the main and the safety switches.
u
Failure to comply could cause death or serious injury by electric shock.
Risk of burn
u
Some burner parts (e.g. flame tube, burner flange, etc.) become hot during opera-
tion and should be allowed to cool down before performing any service work.
We recommend a minimum of once per year maintenance and inspection of all
combustion equipment. It saves fuel and ensures constantly good combustion results.
Excellent combustion quality is a pre-requisite for environment friendly operation.
Annual maintenance and inspection program should include inspection of electrodes,
flame sensors, flame signal strength readings, inspection and testing of all safeties,
including air pressure switch, flange switch, gas pressure switches, flame sensor,
interlocks, motor overloads, etc. Also, the burner should be inspected for any mechanical
damage.
The following components must not be repaired and must be replaced upon failure:
• Stepping motors
• Flame sensor
• Combustion manager
• Pressure regulator
• Gas valves
• Gas pressure switches
• Air pressure switch
Prior to maintenance or service
u
Inform the owner.
u
Switch off the main switch and the safety switch.
u
Close the gas shut off devices.
u
Remove the cover.
u
Unplug the appliance control connector plug X6 from the combustion manager.
Following maintenance or service
u
Check the tightness of the gas train’s components.
u
Check the correct function of:
• ignition,
• flame monitoring,
• gas carrying components (gas connection pressure and setting pressure),
• air and gas pressure switches,
• safety interlock circuit.
u
Check the combustion values; re-adjust if necessary.
u
Enter the combustion values and settings in the maintenance/service record.
u
Re-install the cover.
