8.5 Water Heater Startup Procedure
This section applies only to AM Series water heaters, as well as all water heaters configured
with the AM Rapid Recovery (AMR) option. Refer to the previous section for starting an AM
Series boiler. Refer to section 2.4 for a description of the AMR option for AM water heaters. To
start the water heater, do the following:

NOTE:
Before operation it may be necessary to check the 2000 and 3000 level parameters on each
control board. See section 8.16 and Appendix B for further information.
1.
Open the manual gas shut off valve (Figure 7-1).
2.
Turn the unit power switch to ON (Figure 8-1).
NOTE:
The temperature setpoint is adjusted to its lowest temperature position when shipped from
the factory.
3.
The unit will fire only when the domestic hot water setting is higher than the storage tank
temperature (parameter 1002). Press buttons

to select the desired storage
tank temperature.
4.
If the display gives a Low Water Pressure error (Err 59, Section 9.19), repeat the air purging
operations.
