step 1A: instAlling the motor - kms brushless outrunner or similAr
❑
Using the scribe lines on the plywood motor mount plate, position and
drill holes through the motor mount plate to install your motor.
❑
Install your motor onto the plywood motor mount plate, using the screws
provided with your motor.
IMPORTANT
Use pan head screws to install your motor, so that when
tightened, they'll be flush with the surface of the motor mount plate. This
will prevent the screw heads from interfering with the installation of the
motor assembly onto the firewall.
❑
Glue the motor mount plate to the firewall, making sure that the radius
along the top of the motor mount plate matches the radius along the top of
the cutout in the firewall.
PRO TIP
Depending on the length of the motor wires, you might want to
connect your ESC now, before installing the motor. If the motor wires are
too short, it can be difficult to reach them through the cockpit later.

❑
Carefully cut out the three mounting squares and the circle that are etched
on the firewall. A sharp modeling knife works well for this.
