7.1.2 Operational error messages
When you encounter an error message, use the enter key to clear the message and
continue operating the detector following any recommended corrective action.
Tip:
When you encounter a fatal error, ensure that the detector’s flow cell is clean,
filled with fresh mobile phase, and contains no air bubbles before you cycle power. If
the error persists, contact Waters Technical Service.
7.2 Performing diagnostic functions
The detector runs both user-selectable and service diagnostic tests. You access the
user diagnostic tests by pressing the DIAG key. Only qualified Waters service
personnel can access service diagnostics. To exit any diagnostic test when it has
ended, press DIAG, to return to the diagnostics choice list, or HOME, to return to the
Home screen.
7.2.1 Accessing the diagnostic functions
You can use several diagnostic functions to troubleshoot and verify the proper
operation of the detector electronics and optics.
To access user-selectable diagnostic functions:
1. Press the DIAG key on the detector’s front panel.

The detector displays the Diagnostics choice list.

2. To access a specific diagnostic test, select the test you want to run, and press
Enter, or press a number, from 1 to 6, that corresponds to the diagnostic
number on the detector’s keypad.
Tip:
Choices that display other choices are indicated by the wrench icon
.

Sticky diagnostic tests remain in effect until you disable them. When a
sticky diagnostic test is active, the home screens display a wrench icon.
