Always use current measurement transformers or Rogowski coils for current and
power measurements
Current measurement transformers or Rogowski coils corresponding to the requirements
of standard IEC 61869 must always be used for current and power measurements. For
North America (UL) the requirements for current measurement transformers shall be ob-
served, see "Installation Regulations Specified by Approvals."
The transformer or coil are necessary to ensure adequate isolation from the system in
case of electrical fault. Electrical faults can cause shock or burns. Furthermore, current
measurement without a current measurement transformer can lead to a short circuit in the
power network and destruction of the product.
Note
UL-listed current measurement transformers and Rogowski coils!
When the applications/devices are operated in locations covered by UL, only UL-listed
current measurement transformers and Rogowski coils must be used that comply with the
standards UL 2808.
