Continued from the previous page.
2. Use a light and a mirror to examine the interior of the combustion chamber for
cracks or separations. Pay particular attention to welded corners. Shine the light
into the interior of the heat exchanger and look for light to appear on the exterior
of the heat exchanger. Shine the light on the exterior of the heat exchanger,
peer into the burner mounting hole, and look for light in the interior of the heat
exchanger.
Also, inspect the burner mounting flange
(v)
for damage.
3. Inspect the tube-end of the heat exchanger in the same manner stated in step 2.
Access the tubes through the exhaust port
(w)
.
Outcome
Do not use the machine if any of the following conditions exist. Contact Wacker
Neuson Product Support for assistance.
Cracks or separations are discovered in the heat exchanger
Soot is visible on the exterior (air side) of the heat exchanger
Cracks or damage to the burner mounting flange
Note:
Light surface rust may form on this type of stainless steel and is considered
normal; however, if any combustion by-products such as soot are observed on any
portion of the air side (exterior) of the heat exchanger, focus on that area until the
source (such as a separation or crack) is found. Solid combustion by-products
should never be present in the clean air side (exterior) of the heat exchanger.
NOTICE:
If cracks or separations are found in any area of the heat exchanger, the
machine must be removed from service until repairs are made or the heat
exchanger is replaced.
