Zigzag stitch
Elastic zigzag stitch
An appliqué is a piece of contrasting fabric
that is sewn onto a garment or other work as
decoration.
1 Tack or glue the appliqué to the fabric so
that it does not move when sewing.
1 Appliqué
2 Fabric adhesive
2 Insert the standard presser foot. Before
sewing, check that the needle entry point
is just outside the appliqué. Sew along
the cut edge with a zigzag stitch and a
short stitch length.
3 End the sewing process with reinforcing
stitches.

Stop the machine and position the needle just
outside the appliqué.
Slightly raise the presser foot and turn the
fabric to maintain the correct needle position.
Note
A thin insert of stabilising material (that can be
removed easily afterwards) can help you keep
the position of the stitches along the appliqué
more accurate.
