Gathering
Gathering: For skirt waistbands, shirt sleeves,
etc.
1 Gathering is done using long stitch
lengths and slack thread tension.
Set the stitch length to 3 to 4.
2 Insert the standard presser foot. The
upper and lower thread must be pulled
out approx. 80 mm.

3 Approx. 80 mm
3 Set the upper thread tension dial to a
loose thread tension (e.g. 1 or 2).
4 Sew a parallel straight stitch seam above
and below the end line. Cut the threads to
a length of 80 mm.

5 10 to 15 mm
6 Approx. 80 mm
5 Pull the lower threads of the two straight
stitch seams to gather the fabric and tie
the ends into a knot.
6 Arrange the folds evenly and iron the
fabric.
7 Align the gather evenly and secure it with
a straight stitch seam.
