3.3 Preparing for Operation
3.3.1 Setting Up
Each installation or deployment will have its own specific tasks
according to the application and the installed hardware.
Mobile Installation
For mobile applications such as aircraft or
vehicle, the Strata RX is usually mounted in a bulkhead or
compartment using a Vislink Fixed Mounting Bracket. The
cabling is permanently installed and power comes from aircraft
(or vehicle) power.
For situations where you need to mount an RX and its Fixed
Mounting Bracket to a Vislink Tripod, Vislink also offers a Quick
Release. See Figure 3-3.
For situations where you are mounting to another type of tripod
that doesn’t directly accept the Quick Release, consult with
Vislink or your tripod manufacturer. Vislink has Dovetail Adapter
Plates that will convert some types of tripods to accept the Quick
Release.

Portable Deployment
For portable applications where the
Strata RX will be moved from place to place and set up each
time, the RX will usually be mounted in a Vislink Universal
Mounting Bracket. The Bracket will then be attached to a Quick
Release for easy mounting on a Vislink tripod. See Figure 3-4.
For applications using both an RXU and RCU, a Mounting Plate
is also used to provide additional stiffness. The Mounting Plate is
typically left attached to the Mounting Bracket.
The cabling between RXU and RCU is also typically left in place.
The power, antenna and audio/video connections are usually
removed at the end of each deployment.
