Brakes
Front Brake Lever
The front brake lever is located on the right
handlebar. This lever controls only the
front brakes. The front brakes should be
applied simultaneously with the rear
brakes. To apply the front brake, pull the
lever toward the handlebar. See page 50 for
braking procedures.
Rear Brake Pedal
The rear brake pedal is located on the right
side of the motorcycle. Press downward on
the rear brake pedal to apply the rear brake.

WARNING!
Resting your foot on the brake
pedal will cause excessive and premature wear
of brake pads and reduced braking efficiency,
which could result in severe injury or death.
Gear Shift Lever
The gear shift lever is located on the left
side of the motorcycle. Operate the lever
with your foot.
• Press downward on the toe lever to shift
to a lower gear.
• Lift upward on the toe lever to shift to a
higher gear.
• Release the lever after each gear shift.
• See page 49 for gear shifting procedures.
