Fuel Filters/Water Separators
Bleeding
Most engines nowadays are self-bleeding. If
this is not the case, you will have to bleed the
system yourself after having drained off the
water or having replaced the filter element.
Fill the new filter element with clean fuel, fit
the element and let the motor run at half throt-
tle for 30 seconds.
Alternatively: Use the manual lever on the fuel
feed pump to allow manual bleeding.

When the maximum capacity is established,
bear in mind that for double filters, you must
make your calculations with only one filter in
use.
For double filters, engine power and maximum
capacity are given on the basis of one filter in
service and the other filter as a spare.
Maximum capacity is determined assuming
a pressure of 0.1 kg/cm
2
(3 in Hg) with a new
filter element and good quality diesel fuel.
