Wait until the configuration message disappears, then press the
RESCAN
button at the bottom of the screen to start the Tributary
Scan monitoring function.
In the V-SCAN tab the test set will display the overall structure of the mixed payload tributaries in the form of a matrix, down to
the lowest SDH or SONET container (PDH or DSn structures within the containers will not be scanned). Tap on a member to
select it; the selection will turn blue. The LEDs will reflect the status of the currently selected tributary structure.
The V-SCAN Section
V-SCAN Header
Rate
: Displays the line rate of the interface under test
Ch #
: Displays the mapping type and channel number for the selected tributary
J0
: Displays the Line/Section trace message
J1
: Displays the trace identifier for the selected tributary
Note
: If the trace identifier for a particular tributary is set to 1-Byte, the label will be presented in its equivalent ASCII
representation and repeated 16 times (for example, the hex value 0x43 will be shown as “CCCCCCCCCCCCCCCC”.)
Tributary (High Order) Matrix
The Tributary Matrix shows the different combination of tributaries within the test signal. Touching any of the cells will
highlight it and make it the active tributary. LEDs on the right reflect the status of the selected tributary. Tap on the cell to
see the specific error/alarm affecting the tributary, represented by the blinking LED on the right.
White or blue cells indicate that everything is OK.
Red cells indicate problems or simply that particular tributaries are unequipped. Select alarmed tributaries to identify the
specific problems.
Intermittent red cells indicate a history of problems, bringing to attention defects or anomalies that happened in the past
but are no longer present. Selecting the intermittent cell will allow users to pinpoint the exact source of the problem. Use
the
Clear LED
button at the bottom of the screen to clear the history status.
