4.2.12
BEEP, RELAY, ETC.
4.2.12.1 Beep
Each key press or Fix Mark from the instrument causes a beeper to sound. The user can control the duration of this
beep on an arbitrary scale from 0 (OFF) to 10 (approximately 1.5 seconds). Use up and down to scroll up and down the
range, and Enter to confirm.
4.2.12.2 Relay
The MIDAS Surveyor is fitted with a relay switch to provide control to external systems. The relay is closed each time a
Fix is made, and the user can control the duration of closure on an arbitrary scale from 0 (OFF) to 10 (approximately 1.5
seconds). Use up and down to scroll up and down the range, and Enter to confirm. Access to the relay switch is gained
by splicing the required wires out of the Fix Mark cable, as indicated in the wiring information in Section 6.
4.2.12.3 External Power
The MIDAS Surveyor can also supply a 12v DC output to auxiliary devices connected to the instrument. This is done
through the communications sockets, according to the wiring schedule given in Section 6. Toggle this function on and off
using the up or down key (Enter to confirm).
Notes:
1) This must be activated if using an external beacon receiver as differential input.
2) There is no individual control of power to each socket – they are either all on or all off.
