5. Maintenance

5.1 Site Maintenance

To make sure that observations are reliable, keep the observation site in good condition:

• Check that the vegetation surrounding the station does not get too high and too close

to equipment. Regular pruning is advised.

• Check that snow does not touch or cover the enclosure and connectors.

5.2 Station Maintenance

Check the mechanics and cabling for any damage and corrosion, and repair if needed:

• Inspect cables for breaks, cracks in the protective coating or cable connectors, and

bent, damaged, or misaligned pins.

• Wipe off or remove excess dirt, dust, sand, or leaves.
• Check signal and main cables, grounding cables, lugs, connectors, and connections.
• Check gaskets of the enclosures and mechanical assemblies, bolts, nuts, and so on.

Do not open the enclosure under poor conditions, for example, during rain

or with dust in the air. In general, do not repair sensors in the field.

CAUTION!

Use correct, high quality tools.

5.3 Mast Maintenance

Your installation usually includes a mast. For maintenance instructions, see the mast
documentation.

5.4 Sensor Support Arm Maintenance

When you check the mast, check that the sensor support arm is firmly attached. Check with
a spirit level that the alignment is in level.
