MAINTENANCE
6.1 Recommended maintenance actions
All technical equipments, as well as VSD needs some amount of care taking
and failure preventive maintenance. To maintain trouble free operation of the
drive, environmental conditions, as well as load, line power, process control,
etc. have to be within specifications, determined by manufacturer.
If all conditions are as specified by manufacturer, there is no other concerns,
but provide high enough cooling capacity for the power- and control circuits.
This requirement can be met by making sure, that cooling system works
properly. Operation of cooling fans and cleanness of the heat sink shall be
verified once in a while.
Anyhow in some cases, without additional measures these specifications,
ratings, recommendations are not taken followed as they should be. In these
cases regular maintenance should be scheduled to guarantee long, trouble
free service life of the drive.
In cases, if the specifications, ratings, recommendations are not followed as
they should be, regular maintenance should be scheduled to guarantee long
and trouble free service life of the drive. The regular maintenance and
intervals should include at least following:
Interval Maintenance
12 month (if unit stored)
Capacitor reforming, see separate instructions
6 – 24 month (depending on
environment)
•
checking of input and output terminals and
control I/O-terminals
•
cleaning of cooling tunnel
•
checking of cooling fan working checking of
corrosion from terminal, busbars and other
surfaces
5 – 7 years
Change of cooling fans
•
main fan
•
internal IP54 fan
•
cabinet cooling fan
5 – 10 years

Recommended is also to record all actions and counter values with dates and
time for follow up of maintenance.
