Electric Repair Stand 1693EL User Manual

Safety Precautions

•

The 1693EL Electric Repair Stand must be plugged in to the electricity grid through
an undamaged and grounded outlet.

•

A repair stand that is not bolted to the floor or base plate should not be used under
any circumstances.

•

A repair stand that is not grounded should not be used under any circumstances.

•

Keep clear of the moving parts of the machine while operating.

•

Maintenance, repair and cleaning should only be done with the electric stand
switched off, switch key removed, and power cable unplugged.

•

Only authorized persons should operate the electric repair stand.

•

Only authorized persons should have access to the switch key.

•

Never stand or crawl under hanging bike on the stand.

•

Never reach your hand or any other object into the repair stand when moving the
clamp up or down.

•

Safety equipment required by local regulations should be used when using the
1693EL Electric Repair Stand. The stand itself doesn’t represent any additional
health risks.

Safety Features of the 1693EL Electric Repair Stand

•

The stand features numerous safety sensors and switches - two moving infra-red
(IR) sensors, two stop switches, and two overload switches, one at each end of
the column.

•

IR sensors are located above and below the clamp sliding mechanism and together
with stop switches on travel limiters prevent pinching between the travel limiters
and the clamp.

•

Overload switches are mechanical and fixed to the column by two bolts on the right
side of the column. Those bolts should never be removed. Removing these bolts can
results in the safety mechanism not working properly, causing serious injury.

1693EL Electric Repair Stand Installation

A well thought out design allows for the Electric Repair Stand to require minimal effort to
set up. Please read and follow the requirements for installation below.

•

Electric Repair Stand is intended for inside use only.

•

Electric Repair Stand should never be used outside and left exposed to the
elements.

•

Do not use the 1693EL Electric Repair Stand in wet and damp locations.

•

Make sure there is enough space around the repair stand to work on the bike. It´s
advised to have the stand at least 0.5m away from the wall. There should be about
1,5m of free space on each left and right side from the stand and about 2m in front
of the stand.

•

Keep work area clean and free of clutter.

Securing the Electric Repair Stand to the floor:

If fixing the 1693EL to the floor, bolts up to size M12 should be used. Extraction force
should be at least 2000N (1475 ft-lb).

Using the stand with the Unior Fixed Base Plate 1693EL.1

Using the supplied bolts, secure the Electric Repair Stand to the 1693EL.1 Base Plate and
then position it as desired. The base plate features 4 bolts, 1 on each corner, that can be
used to level the stand on uneven floors. Adjust the leveling bolts accordingly to minimize
the wobble of the stand.

Power Cord

•

All Electric Repair Stands equipped with a 220V electric motor comes with Type F
and Type C compatible plugs.

•

All North American Electric Stands equipped with 110V specific motors is supplied
with Type A compatible plugs.

•

In markets where power cord provided with the stand is not compatible with
local plugs, the customer should have a qualified technician source a compatible
power cord.

Important

When after turning the electric repair stand on for the first time and the lower limit LED
light is blinking, please perform the following steps. The safety mechanism can get a little
sticky or needed to be reset, after the transport.

1. Heavily push and load the clamp together with motor up and down, so the system can
overcome its own friction. If the lower limit LED light on control panel stops blinking, the
stands is ready to be used. If the lower limit LED light is still blinking, please proceed with
next step.
2. Unscrew both screws marked F on the picture, with HX wrench size 5, just enough for the
chain holder to slides up and down.
3. With HX wrench still in the head of the screw, push down on it and chain holder at the
same time, to put some tension on the chain. While doing it, keep watching the blinking
limit light on the control panel, it should stop blinking at certain point.
4. When the lights stop blinking, back up the tension a little bit and try to get the gap
between the plate and lower overload switch as shown on the picture. Once you get it in
position, tighten down both bolts to fix it in position.

Electricity cord input

2. Operating the Electric Repair Stand:

•

To move the clamp up or down press the corresponding button on the operating
control unit. Arrows on buttons indicate the direction of clamp movement.

•

Two operation modes are available:
1. Push – pushing the up/down button will move the clamp to the chosen direction
and stop it when it hits the limiter or the end of its travel. Clamp movement can be
stopped at any time by pushing the red STOP button.
2. Press and hold – pressing and holding up/down button will move clamp in
chosen direction and stop it immediately when the button is released.

3. Adjusting Travel Limiters:

Travel limiters area a handy and unique feature of the Unior Electric Repair Stand and can
limit the travel of the clamp to suit the needs of the technician. There are two travel limit-
ers, one above the clamp (upper limiter) and one below the clamp (lower limiter). Limiters
slide up and down and can be brought closer together or further apart, limiting the travel
of the clamp between them.

The travel limiters are adjusted by hand, without the use

of any tools. Force needed to slide the limiter up or down

is about 20 Nm (14.75 ft-lb). Bolts on the outside of the

limiters should never be adjusted.

If the clamp is moving up or down and the STOP button is not pressed during the clamp
movement, the clamp will automatically come to a stop when it reaches the travel limiters.

•

When the clamp reaches one of the travel limiters, a red LIMIT indicator light will
illuminate informing the operator which travel limiter stopped the clamp.
