owerColor offers many powerful features that allow you to correct your pres-
canned images before final scanning. This chapter describes PowerColor’s
Unsharp Masking (USM) and Descreening functions.
Applying Unsharp Masking
Unsharp masking (USM) represents a way of adjusting the contrast of edge detail
in an image. PowerColor’s Unsharp Masking window contains extensive tools for
fine-tuning the sharpness of your images.
To open the Unsharp Masking window (see Figure 6–1), select Custom USM from
the Tools Menu or
+ U (Macintosh) C U (Windows).
You can toggle Unsharp Masking on or off by clicking on
the On box next to Unsharp Mask at the top of the Unsharp Masking window.
