IMPORTANT:
Make sure that the last (or only) device in the SCSI chain has a
terminator and that no other external SCSI device has a terminator.
Otherwise the computer may not be able to start up.

Turn o n all device s in your SCSI chain.
IMPORTANT:
Always turn on any external SCSI devices connected to your
computer before turning on the computer itself. Otherwise, your computer
won’t be able to recognize that the SCSI devices are connected to it and your
computer may not be able to start up.

Install any necessary device drivers (software that
makes a device work with your computer.)
Drivers usually come on a floppy disk with the device. If no driv-
ers come with the device, a driver my not be required or you may
need to contact the device manufacturer.
If you experience problems after connecting a SCSI device, see the
troubleshooting information in Chapter 5.
Upgrading the Processor Card
You can upgrade the performance of your SuperMac C500 by installing
a higher performance processor card. If you want replace the proces-
sor card in your SuperMac C500 computer, see Appendix B or your
UMAX Computer Reseller.
Upgrading the Cache Memory Module
You can add additional Level 2 cache static RAM to your SuperMac
C500 by replacing the factory-installed cache memory module with
either a 512 K or 1 MB module. See “Upgrading the Cache Memory
Module” in Appendix B.
Expanding Memory
The random access memory (RAM) in your computer can be expanded.
Installing additional RAM adds more memory chips to your computer
and expands its capabilities. You can expand your SuperMac C500
computer up to 144 MB. See “Expanding Memory” in Appendix B.
WARNING:
To avoid damaging your Computer, have a qualified technician
install any additional RAM. If you attempt to install additional RAM yourself,
any damage you may cause to your equipment will not be covered by the
