Learning the Basics
The following illustration points out the elements on your screen with
which you work on your computer.
Mouse Techniques
Your computer responds instantly to every movement you make with
the mouse. You use the mouse to start applications, open and create
documents, and put them away.

To select an icon, click it. Position the pointer over what you want
to make active. Press and quickly release the mouse button.

To open an icon, double-click it. Position the pointer over the
icon. Press and release the mouse button twice in rapid succes-
sion.

To drag an icon, position the pointer on an icon. Press and hold
down the mouse button while you move the mouse. Release the
mouse button.
