Connecting and Positioning a Microphone
With appropriate software, you can use a microphone to record your
voice or other sounds. An Apple PlainTalk
®
microphone for your
SuperMac C500 is available from your UMAX Computer Reseller.
Using an Apple PlainTalk microphone and software, you will be able
to use speech recognition technology with the SuperMac C500 com-
puter. (You can’t use the round microphone supplied with some Macin-
tosh models.)
To connect and position the microphone,
1.
Plug the microphone’s connector into the Audio In port
on the rear of the SuperMac C500 computer.
2.
Place the microphone at the top center of the display,
so that the microphone’s grille is facing you.
If you can’t place the microphone on top of your display, place the
microphone between 1 and 3 feet away from you and directly in
front of you to minimize recording background noise.
3.
Open the Monitors & Sound control panel in the Apple
menu and click the Sound icon.
