Check to see what’s on your screen.
You see the “welcome screen” and the Launcher that you use to
choose what you want to do next
If you want to learn about the capabilities of your SuperMac C500,
click one of the tutorial buttons on your screen.
If you see a blinking question mark in a small diskette icon
,
see “Solutions to Common Problems” in Chapter 5. You may need to
reinstall the System software on your computer’s hard disk. (Sys-
tem software, a set of files that the computer uses to start itself,
keep track of files, and run application programs, is pre-installed
on you SuperMac C500 computer.) See Chapter 5 for instructions
on reinstalling System software.

If you prefer to use the Macintosh Desktop (Finder) to
access your applications or documents
, click the Close
box in the upper left corner of the Launcher.
To keep the Launcher from opening automatically each time you
turn on your computer, turn off “Show Launcher at system star-
tup” in the General Controls Panel. (For information about using
the Control Panels, see “Control Panels” later in this chapter.)
You will see the Macintosh desktop as pictured below.
Click one of these
