High Temperature (H-T):
an alarm indicating that the process water has exceeded 60 °C for 10
seconds.
HOME screen:
the primary display screen. The measurement reading, cell condition % and sample
temperature are all displayed in real time on this screen.
HOME Key:
the
<HOME>
key. It takes the user back to the
HOME
screen without having to use the
<ESC>
key.
Hydrocarbon:
an organic compound (as acetylene or butane) containing only carbon and hydrogen
and often occurring in petroleum, natural gas, coal, and bitumens.

LED (Light Emitting Diode):
a semiconductor diode that emits light when a voltage is applied to it.
LED (F-A):
indicates the status of the excitation light source. Reports whether the LED is off or on.
If the power is on and the LED is operational, the diagnostic screen will display
LED: ON
. F-A is the
alarm that will be displayed if the power is on and the LED is not operational.
Left Arrow Key:

ñ
> or <
ò
>.
<
ñ
> makes the LCD darker and <
ò
> makes the LCD lighter.
LCD (Liquid Crystal Display):
an electronic display that consists of segments of a liquid crystal whose
reflectivity varies according to the voltage applied to them.
Light Source:
the origin for the light to which the sample is exposed.
Light Detector:
an electronic sensor that is sensitive to the presence of light. The light detector
produces a pulse of electricity when it detects a photon that has passed through the emission filter.
M
Master ID:
a four digit access code that is required to view or change the USER ID. It also permits the
user to perform all functions accessible by the User ID.
Maximum Temperature (Max Temp):
the maximum process water temperature the instrument has
measured since the original installation.
Measurement Function Alarms:
function alarms related to the measurement status. These alarms
include the High Signal Level Alarm and the Cell Threshold Alarm.
N
No Sample Flow (N-F):
alarm indicating that there is a problem with the sample flow that has lasted for
the 10 minute delay period.
Number 6 Fuel Oil:
a residual fuel oil (RFO) or heavy fuel oil; what remains of the crude oil after
gasoline and the distillate fuel oils are extracted through distillation. The terms
heavy fuel oil
and
residual fuel oil
