10.2 Scanner parameters
M100LFG uses two dimensional scanning beam technology to produce image on the
wire. Deflection mirrors scan the laser beam according to a specified pattern similarly to a hand
writing process. 200 mm objective focuses the beam on the wire surface. Standard laser fires
30,000 shots per second leaving one 50-100 µm marking dot on the wire surface per shot. The
distance between the dots is completely programmable and depends on the speed of the moving
mirrors and laser repetition rates. That allows high resolution marking with print densities of up
to 600dpi, which is especially important for small diameter wires.
All scanner parameters are preset at the factory. To change the dot density in the vertical
direction access the scanner window (Chapter 9.4) and adjust the Mark Speed. Higher speed
corresponds to a bigger spacing between the dots. At the optimum setting the dots are placed as
close to each other as possible without overlapping. Fig.10.2. shows marking at 2000, 1000 and
500 bits/ms, where 1000bits/sec is the optimum speed.
