Side mirrors
With the adjustable side mirrors, the driver can:
•
See traffic to the rear while traveling.
•
See traffic to the rear while reversing.
•
Check if there are persons in the rear danger area of the
CHALLENGER550.

Driver's cab
From the driver's cab:
•
The CHALLENGER550 is driven.
•
Docking/Undocking at the aircraft is done.
•
The aircraft is towed/pushed.
•
The driver's cab lifted up to 500 mm.

Rotating beacons
The rotating beacons flash during operation of the CHALLEN-
GER550.

Engine and gear-
box unit (compart-
ment), grid
maintenance
platform
The engine and gearbox unit:
•
Drives the axles
•
Supplies the hydraulics
•
Contains cooler for engine and gearbox

Stabilizers
The CHALLENGER550 is lifted at the front and rear with four
stabilizers.

Open box
Torches, direction indicators, and pins can be stored in the open box.

Windscreen
washer water
container
The windscreen washer water container stores the water for the
windscreen washer system.

Front towing
coupling
The aircraft tow bar is attached to the towing coupling.

Work light
The work light illuminates the work area.

Headlights
The headlights illuminate the front of the CHALLENGER550 and the
traffic route.

AdBlue/DEF tank
The AdBlue/DEF tank contains the urea solution for reducing the
NOx emissions in the engine exhausts.

Diesel tank
The diesel tank stores the fuel for the engine.

Emergency unit,
hydraulic hand
valves, control
modules
The emergency unit and the hydraulic hand valves:
•
Enable the emergency operation/emergency steering of the
CHALLENGER550.
•
Enable the extension of the stabilizers.
The control modules with the inputs and outputs are part of the
electric control system of the CHALLENGER550.

Auxiliary power
supply
If the battery is discharged, the CHALLENGER550 can be started
with the auxiliary power supply.
