Installing Barfly
If there is a considerable distance between the scaler and Barfly computer and/or the TV,
the HDMI Over Single CAT5 Extender kit can be used to ensure proper signal quality. See
“Long Cable Runs” on page 18.
Installation Overview
The following is an outline of the steps required to complete a Barfly installation.
1. Take the time to make a thorough audit of the picture quality as it exists on the TVs
before touching anything. If there are any issues such as ghosting, color distortion,
scrolling lines, and so on, bring this to the attention of the venue management
immediately.
2. Disconnect all existing video inputs to the venue’s TV. Audio connections, whether
connected directly to the TV or to the venue’s sound system, are best left intact, and
cannot be plugged into the scaler.
3. Install all Barfly hardware components and connect them to the venue’s TV screen.
4. Run the calibration wizard so that the frames and images are properly centered and
sized.
5. Label cabling, especially at end remote from Barfly. Label converters and splitters, as
appropriate. This helps your customer during troubleshooting.
6. DOCUMENT THE INSTALLATION! There may be a time when someone other than you
is providing phone support. A thorough description of the installation is critical.
7. The installation data must be sent to TouchTunes/Barfly.

8. Before leaving:
• Ensure the bypass works,
• Ensure reloading the scaler configuration file works by pressing asterisk (*) on the
numeric keypad.
• Verify picture formatting,
• Check for stable power,
• Cycle computer power,
• Ensure that the picture is not degraded in any way,
• Ensure that the Internet connection is good,
• Ensure that the system appears on the dashboard and screen captures are visible.
• Where applicable, ensure that audio functionality is preserved.
