6) 1st transfer
- 1st transfer is a process of transcribing the toner image (visible image) formed on the photocon-
ductive drum to the transfer belt. A positive bias is applied to the 1st transfer roller, causing the
transfer belt to be positively charged. This in turn helps to form an electric field E between the
transfer belt (positive) and the photoconductive layer of the photoconductive drum (grounded),
thus making the toner image transferred to the transfer belt. In the copy process of this equip-
ment, images are transferred in the order of Y
→
M
→
C
→
K on the transfer belt.
