Measuring the ship source impedance
To measure the source impedance including supplied cables, do as follows:
1. Connect the supplied power cable to the 15 V DC output from the power
supply.
2. Connect the other end of the power cable to the Mini part of the Mini/Micro
T-connector.
3. Connect the cable for the GMDSS Terminal to the T-connector, but do not
connect the other end to the terminal.
4. At the unconnected end of the CAN cable, measure the source impedance
of the ship installation as described below.
•
Measure the voltage without load (R.var disconnected).
•
Set the current to e.g. 1 A by adjusting R.var.
•
Measure the corresponding voltage change.
Example:
1 A and 50 mV. Source impedance: 50 mV/1 Amp = 50 m
