CUEMASTER OPERATION
REMOTE SHOW PLAYBACK
You can operate a Show recorded under any Scenemaster from a remote location by manual push button or musician's foot-switch, or by
electronic control from a microphone, daylight sensor, Audio Visual decoder box, SMPTE time decoder, Midi decoder, computers, or a
tone decoder from a taped sound-track. Control is provided for Forward Cue, Reverse, and Home—reset to Cue 1. Since Linked Chases
and Fade-Scenes can be incorporated in the cues, a very complex sequence of effects can be operated. These events can include not
only lighting cues but motor control, colour scroller control, moving light parameters, smoke machines, pyrotechnics etc. The large
memory capacity of the Cuemaster will be found very useful in such automated presentations. The Forward, Reverse and Restart
commands require a simple three wire connection to two low current make-to-earth contacts, which can be a pair of manual push buttons,
small relays, or computer logic outputs. The technical specifications are listed below.
In the following example, assume the remote lines are connected to two push buttons marked Forward and Reverse.
REMOTE SHOW SET-UP
You should record the complete Show in a Scenemaster in the range 17 to 24 so that Chases and Fade-Scenes on Scenemasters 1 to
16 on the same page can be linked to the Show cues if required. Only one Show can be operated remotely at one time, and the 16 linked
Chases or Fade-Scenes must be recorded on the same page as the Show. You can record up to 9 other Remote Auto Shows on the
other 9 pages if needed, but the Page must be manually changed. Once the Show is recorded, proceed as follows:
1 If the Cue Back LED is on, press [CUE GO] to turn it off.
2 Plug the stereo phone jack connected to the remote pushbuttons (or controller) into the Remote Control socket on the
back panel of the Cuemaster.
3 Set the Scene Fade master at Auto, and the Speed Master at Step Mode.
4 Set the Show Scenemaster to Full. This sets Cue 1 live on stage.
The first cue state in automatic mode is more than likely to be a blackout or a reset state which may include public area lighting such as
Houselights. The second cue state would then be the true start of the performance. Once the remote lead is connected, the Show can be
controlled from the remote contacts, and from the Cuemaster Cue Go and Cue Back keys.
REMOTE CUE FORWARD
If you press the Forward push-button briefly (50 milliseconds to 1 second), the Show will step forward one cue. Repeating pressing of the
Forward button gives a series of dipless cross-fade between cues, each new cue introducing its levels at its own pre-recorded fade time
with any linked Chases, and any linked Fade-Scene at its own (different) pre-recorded fade time. Cue stepping works on a latest takes
precedence basis, that is all cue levels fade to the latest cue state at the latest cue fade time, while Fade-Scenes fade at the latest Fade-
Scene auto time.
