5.7 How to adjust outriggers
5.7.1 TRACER
TM
outriggers
Tools: All adjustments are done with 2 spanners of 10
1 - Ski tip angle adjustment
To begin, the angle has to be adjusted in order to offer a good support on the tail of the ski
tip. Having a good support is
reassuring for the seated skier
and that’s what allows, among
other things, to start a turn.
During all the learning phase of
the skier, the outrigger
’s angle
can be progressively modified to
reach
a

position.
The position of the inferior screw
defines the angle of the ski.
For a
beginner
, we recommend the
hole n°2
.
Then we will change to holes n°3 and then n°4. Other holes are rarely used.
To adjust the outrigger:
- Remove the inferior screw.
- Slightly unscrew the superior screw (without removing it)
- Put back the screw in the chosen hole (by making slide the superior screw in the
« light » if needed).
- Tight both screws so there is no play.
2 - Length of the outrigger adjustment
The length adjustment must be done after the angle adjustment.
For a beginner, seated in a Uniski or a Dualski, the
skis flat on the ground
, the
elbows
must be
nearly as high as the shoulders
.
A good skier can, after having adjusted several times the angle of the skis, shorten his
outriggers.
